Warblers Week Day 4: First TimeHunter/JeffA/N: I was trying to do a different rare!pair for today, but Junter kind of took me by surprise. This turned out a lot longer than I thought it would.
“If I Stay”
The first time they have sex is in Hunter’s room in Colorado Springs. Jeff goes to visit him for a week during the summer, and though Mrs. Clarington puts Jeff in the guestroom, he sneaks into Hunter’s room every single chance he gets. Considering that both of Hunter’s parents work, this actually happens quite a lot.
They don’t go ‘all the way’ until the very last day that Jeff’s supposed to stay with the Claringtons, partly because they’re used to just using their mouths and hands to get each other off, and mostly because they’re worried that Hunter’s little brother is going to break something or need something and their reaction time will be far too slow to attend to him.
But on the last day of Jeff’s visit, Sterling decides that it’s now or never, because very soon he’s going to be stuck with his own hand and Hunter on a shitty little Skype window for the rest of the summer. They’ve talked about this, about the fact that they’re going to different Universities, and they’ve talked about the fact that they’re going to try really fucking hard to do the long distance thing but, ultimately, won’t blame each other if it doesn’t work out.
“Just be honest with me,” Hunter says, after he puts a glass of milk and a sandwich in front of Erik and tells him to stay out of trouble for at least an hour.
His little brother makes a face and informs him that he can take care of himself perfectly well, thankyouverymuch, and Hunter rolls his eyes. He’d believe that if maybe the kid hadn’t set fire to his own shoe last month, but he decides to trust him just this once.
Hunter takes Jeff by the hand and they walk back to his room together. “If you meet someone or get tired of me or… you just want to try being single a bit,” he says. “I’ll understand.” Hunter is a practical guy, and even though it kills him that Jeff might just go and do that, he needs to let him know that it’s okay to explore. To grow up.
“Yeah, I…” Jeff is surprisingly mature about the subject, though his smile is a little sad. “I will. If you promise to do the same.”
Hunter nods, shutting and locking the door to his room behind him. He’s nervous, and Jeff’s nervous, and for a minute both of them just stand there, holding hands and staring at each other, until Jeff laughs.
“This shouldn’t be so weird, should it?” he asks, and steps closer and kisses Hunter.
They end up on Hunter’s couch instead of his bed for some reason, and there’s a lot of pushing and pulling and gasping and barely-bitten back sighs. Hunter accidentally spills the lube (but it’s water-based so it doesn’t matter as much), and Jeff drops the condom when he’s trying to put it on him. His hands are shaking badly and Hunter has to hold them and kiss him and tell him that it’s okay to stop right now if he’s changed his mind, but Jeff shakes his head and tells him that he hasn’t.
“I want it to be you,” he says, and there’s a goodbye in there already, even though they both try to ignore it.
In the end, Jeff ends up riding him because it’s easiest, and Hunter pretty much just sits there and tries really hard not to come immediately because being inside somebody for the first time is nothing short of amazing. It isn’t perfect because no first time really is, and there’s a lot of wincing and teeth-biting on Jeff’s part as he tries to adjust to the feeling of having Hunter’s cock in him.
They’re both sweating profusely by the time Jeff finally relaxes enough to actually start moving, and Hunter grips his thighs and kisses his lips, and then it starts to get really, really fucking good. For a few minutes there’s nothing but the sound of ragged breathing and the occasional moan, and then Hunter recovers his wits long enough to get a hand on Jeff’s cock and starts to jack him in time to his movements.
It isn’t long before Sterling comes, and he digs his fingers into Hunter’s shoulders and clenches down hard enough to make stars dance behind Hunter’s eyes. He bites off a startled groan when his own orgasm hits him like a freight train, and nothing they’ve ever done to each has ever had quite this level of intimacy.
They hold each other through the aftershocks of it, sweaty and sticky and pretty fucking wrecked, and Hunter is suddenly, immeasurably relieved that Sterling is his first.
“Wow,” Jeff says after a while, and Hunter nods slowly.
“Wow,” he echoes. The sweat is already drying on their bodies, and outside, the sun begins to set.
After summer ends, they make it six months before they decide to call it quits.
Hunter’s in Harvard and Jeff’s in UCLA, and the distance between them is just too great. Hunter doesn’t ask if Jeff has met someone else, (he can already hear it in his voice), and Jeff doesn’t insult him by trying to lie about it.
They say goodbye over Skype; Jeff cries a little and Hunter doesn’t, but that’s okay. He deletes Sterling from his contacts list and spends the next month brooding, but after that he picks up the pieces of his life and gets on with the rest of it.
Hunter grows up, grows older, falls in love and gets his heart broken a few more times. He thinks about Jeff sometimes, about that one perfectly imperfect afternoon, but only in the quiet moments when nothing quite makes the ache in his chest go away.
It isn’t until Hunter runs into Jeff at a business conference in Chicago of all places, a decade after the last time they’d seen each other. He finds out that Sterling is working for some firm in Westerville (Hunter is based in Colorado), and they have a drink at the hotel bar and talk about everything except what he really, really wants to know.
There’s an uncomfortable silence when Jeff accidentally brushes his hand against Hunter’s and almost drops his glass of wine. He snatches his hand away as if burned, blushing like a little kid. “Sorry—“ Jeff says, dropping his eyes to the floor.
It’s been ten years but Hunter can still read him like a book, never mind that they’ve both grown up. He realizes, then, that firsts matter. They matter immensely. They get inside your skin and dig hooks into your heart, and they inflict wounds that time can never quite heal.
“I thought it was just me,” Hunter says quietly. He waits patiently for Jeff to get it, and when he does, his eyes snap up to Hunter’s face.
“You… um. You’re not seeing anyone?” Jeff asks hesitantly, fidgeting with his napkin. Hunter shakes his head silently.
“Good,” Jeff says, then blushes again. “Good.”
Hunter raises and eyebrow and holds out a hand, and Jeff finally smiles.
“I’m not seeing anyone, either,” Sterling says softly. “It was never really the same after you, and I couldn’t make it work.”
“Good,” Hunter echoes.
Jeff takes his hand and they get up from their table, walking through the lobby and into the elevator and through the hallway on Hunter’s floor. He’s nervous— they both are, by now—and Jeff drops the condom and Hunter spills the lube and the sex is about as imperfect as it was the first time.
It’s also the best he’s ever had.
Afterwards, when they’re spooning on the bed and Jeff’s half-asleep, Hunter kisses his shoulder. “You’re living in Westerville,” he says softly.
“And you’re living in Colorado,” Jeff counters, equally quietly. He shifts a little, turning so he can look Hunter in the eye. “Are we going to try this again?”
The answer is surprisingly easy.
“No,” Hunter says. “We’re not going to try. We’re going to make it work.”
They’ll figure things out in the morning. He’ll move— or Jeff will, if he wants to— but Hunter’s not going to let him go. Not this time. There are very few second chances in life, and Hunter knows that getting one for something this important is nothing short of a miracle.
Jeff exhales softly, his breath warm against Hunter’s cheek.
“I want it to be you,” he says, and this time, it’s not a goodbye.
This time, it’s a promise.

Warblers Week Day 2: First Date/First KissHunter/JeffA/N: Riker Lynch is seriously the prettiest thing ever.
The first time Hunter and Jeff go out, Jeff spills coffee down the front of his uniform and Hunter burns his hand trying to help him wipe it off. They spend an hour in the infirmary with Jeff holding a cold, wet towel against Hunter’s burn, with Jeff apologizing profusely while Hunter forgets to point out that he’s only required to keep it cold for ten minutes, tops. By the time they leave, Jeff has told him no less than four jokes and apologized eight times, and insists on walking him back to his dorm room.
When they reach his door, Hunter attempts to give Jeff a manly back slap ‘goodnight’ while Sterling leans in to kiss his cheek. There is a brief moment that lasts for a small eternity where they do a weird, awkward shuffle around each other, until Jeff grabs Hunter by the shoulders, looks him in the eye and promptly gives him an Eskimo kiss.
Hunter is left standing in his doorway as Jeff retreats down the hall, watching the other boy’s blond hair swoosh behind him. He goes inside his room and sits down on his bed.
“Good date?” Sebastian asks, not even looking up from his laptop where Blaine is currently shirtless in the little Skype window.
Hunter touches his nose, his forehead wrinkling.
“…yeah.”
***
The first time they kiss— really kiss— is on their fifth date. There are no burns, no awkward shuffles, and this time when Jeff walks Hunter to his door, Hunter lets him in. Sebastian is on a date with Anderson tonight, and he’d ‘thoughtfully’ left Hunter a box of condoms on his desk which Hunter had thrown away immediately.
Hunter turns to ask Jeff if he wants something to drink, but Jeff pulls him in by the lapels and lays down on his bed, dragging Hunter along with him. (It’s Sebastian’s bed, actually, but Hunter is too preoccupied with the fact that he’s pressed against Jeff from thigh to crotch to notice this. He wonders how much of a mood killer it will be if he has to stop and root through his trashcan for the condoms.)
From this distance, Jeff’s eyes are absolutely stunning. “So,” he says, his grin wider than Hunter’s ever seen it. “What do you want to do now?”
Hunter blinks owlishly at him, and Jeff laughs like a little kid before grabbing him by the neck and giving him what is possibly the filthiest kiss Hunter’s ever received. It’s the perfect combination of lip and tongue, with plenty of sucking and the barest hint of teeth.
By the time Hunter breaks for air, his heart is pounding in his chest and he’s harder than he’s ever been.
Jeff smirks. “I know, right?”
He cards his fingers through Hunter’s hair and promptly flips their positions, looking down at the other with a wicked grin. “Now imagine what that’ll feel like on your cock.”
“…fuuuuuuck.” Hunter says.
He makes a dying noise in the back of his throat when Sterling suits word to deed, biting down on his fist in order to avoid having the entire floor know what they’re doing. (He turns out to not have needed Smythe’s condoms, after all; Jeff brings his own.)
Later, when Hunter’s alarm goes off and he rouses from the sex stupor that Sterling has apparently induced him into, he pulls on his clothes and walks Jeff to his own room down the hall. Hunter suspects that he has the stupidest smile on his face right now, but he doesn’t care.
This time, no back slaps or cheek kisses are even attempted. There’s only one way to end a date this awesome, really, and after Jeff pulls back from the tight hug that Hunter pulls him into, he winks. “Give me some sugar, babe.”
Hunter rolls his eyes, but he gives Jeff an Eskimo kiss goodnight anyway.

Warblers Week Day 1: First time meeting each otherHunter/Nick
People always assume that the first person that Hunter meets when he goes to Dalton is Sebastian. It’s likely because Smythe is his roommate and the captain he’s supposed to replace (who also later on becomes his best friend), but Sebastian is still in Paris on the day that Hunter arrives so he doesn’t meet him until the day after.
Some also assume that it’s Jeff, because Sterling is friendly with everyone and it’s likely that he would’ve looked for the new captain to offer him a tour. This is partly true because he actually does try to find Hunter on his first day, but he gets distracted by Trent midway and isn’t able to locate him.
Thad, Dave, and Wes, are also likely candidates because they used to be the council and people assume they’re responsible. Thad plans to invite the new Warbler for coffee if he runs into him, but he doesn’t see him until dinner and that makes a coffee date rather awkward.
No, the first person Hunter meets at Dalton is the person no one ever really guesses: Nick Duval. Hunter runs into him on the staircase and asks for directions to the choir room, because he recognizes him from a crappy YouTube video where Nick had been singing lead on ‘Uptown Girl’.
Duval is friendly and handsome and his smile is almost as wide as Hunter’s, and the two become fast friends.
This has something to do, of course, with the fact that Nick grabs Hunter by the hand and pulls him down a long hallway that’s supposedly a shortcut, and then proceeds to serenade him with a Katy Perry song. Hunter will later learn that Nick has stolen this ‘technique’ from Blaine Anderson, but by the time he finds this out, Nick is already his boyfriend and Sebastian won’t stop teasing him about not being even ‘remotely bi-curious’.

Coming out of my hiatus for a week to do this for my favourite team on Glee. Not sure how far I’ll get, but I’m going to focus on rare!pairs for this week. (Feel free to blacklist ‘warblers week’; I’m going to try to do all seven days, so there’s going to be a lot of Warbler love this week!)

HIATUS!
This was a long time coming, but my work has been so busy lately that I’ve been so burned out and unable to find much time to write. Rest assured that I will finish my fics, but it won’t be within this coming week. The fact that Glee kind of stopped showing the Warblers is kind of a bummer, but Huntbastian totally lives in my head and I promise to finish my ongoing fics. I gets asks about four things, mostly, so I’m leaving a response to their statuses here:
Sometimes Change Can Be A Good Thing - Huntbastian. Almost complete, will likely be finished first out of any of these.
The Things We Leave Behind - Huntbastian. Halfway done, but still definitely going to finish this.
Christina’s World - Seblaine. I still have this on the backburner. No, it’s not been abandoned, but if I do, I will post the outline, all the snippets I’ve written for it, and the ending (which I completed long ago).
Dalton Calendar - (JANUARY: HUNTER | FEBRUARY: SEBASTIAN | MARCH: NICK | APRIL: JEFF) - I have the first four months completed, so I’m still aiming to post the May art up when May rolls around. :)

…
The most painful thing about finding out about Sebastian’s deception was that it not only invalidated their entire friendship, but also whatever feelings Hunter had thought he had for him. Of course, the trouble about attraction was that it wasn’t something he could just dismiss at a whim, and the fact that Hunter still liked Sebastian just made it so much worse.
He couldn’t even mope in the library anymore because that was the first place Sebastian would think to look for him, and there were few things more pathetic than losing one’s place of sanctuary and only friend at the same time.
Hunter sighed, propping his chin against his hand as he stared out at the empty football field. His lunch was beside him but he wasn’t really hungry; it was three days after he’d overhead Blaine and Sebastian in the choir room and he was still smarting over the betrayal. Food was the last thing on his mind.
He’d been avoiding Sebastian and ignoring his calls and texts since Tuesday, and dodging him in class was a little harder, but Hunter had managed by coming to class early and sitting in the front row. Sebastian always sat in the back, and while it was difficult to concentrate while his eyes were boring holes in his back, he managed.
Hunter had three more classes this afternoon before he could go home and spend the weekend sulking. All he had to do was keep it together for a little bit longer. He stared down at the textbook in his lap and sighed.
“You haven’t been in the library in days, Clarington. Dust mites finally get to you?”
Sebastian’s voice behind him startled him so much that he dropped his book, and Hunter twisted around, frowning. “How’d you find me?” he asked. He got to his feet and started packing up his things.
“Please,” Sebastian drawled. “There are like three places that are deserted during lunch, and this was one of them. It wasn’t much of a stretch, considering how allergic you are to having friends.”
Well. That stung.
“Thanks,” Hunter said, flushing dully. “I really needed the daily reminder of how big an asshole you are.” He turned to go, but Sebastian grabbed his arm, fingers curling hard around his bicep.
“Hang on, Clarington—“ Sebastian said, his green eyes flashing. “You’re the one who’s been avoiding me. You don’t get to be angry. What’s the matter? Did you suddenly remember you were straight and get cold feet? I promise not to make you suck my cock until you’re ready—“
Hunter punched him.
His fist was moving before he even knew what he was doing, and suddenly Sebastian was on the ground and Hunter was on top of him and his hand was fisted in his shirt and it was all fucking wrong.
Smythe was staring at him like he’d never seen him before and there was a bruise already purpling on his jaw. “What the fuck—“
Hunter let him go, horrified at what he’d done, reeling back like his words were a physical blow. “I’m sorry,” he said, scrabbling back. “Jesus Christ, Smythe, I—“
“I can’t do this.”
He picked up his backpack and fled, leaving Sebastian on the ground.

Christina’s World isn’t going to be updated soon, but I haven’t abandoned it yet. I’m having trouble finding my seblaine muse so it’s been on the back burner… I’m so sorry!

Anonymous asked: Sorry for asking this but um... are you gonna continue the dalton calender? if so are you gonna have warblers like brock or jon in it?

No worries, hun! Yes, I will continue! It will come in time for May (I did the first four months already), and I’m not sure about Brock and Jon, but I’ve received requests for them and I’m keeping them in mind. :D

Jake/Ryder Fic Recs

I didn’t think the new kids would ever grow on me, but after watching the Jyder friendship unfold over the season (and listening to the Jake/Ryder “Unchained Melody” duet), I kinda figured it was time. XD I’m not sure if I’ll ever write these boys, but my god, the sheer amount of gay between them deserves more love. There are like, only five stories in their tag on AO3, and here are some ridiculously good ones that I’ve just read.

He Wants It All by Gala_Apples

Don’t Want Everything by NubianAmy

These authors had the lovely idea to write two stories out of one prompt, (Jake and Ryder misconstrue what Blaine means when he says ‘bros helping bros’ and decide to hookup) and the writing is absolutely delightful. The boys sounds exactly like they do on the show, and NGL, the last line of “He Wants It All” made me tear up. Both fics are well-written, a good length, and very In Character. Absolutely lovely.

Also: this ship makes the fact that Hunter and Sebastian aren’t on Glee anymore a tiny bit more bearable.
